Guide to a Victorious LifeRev. Shine P. Thomas Have you struggled in defeat as a person? Many times we face defeat because we do not get proper guidance in life. We all need guidance in our life. A ship without guidance heads nowhere. The early sailors used a compass for guidance which indicates four points of north, south, east, and west, all necessary for finding direction for the ship to travel. Similarly we need heavenly guidance in living the Christian life. The Word of God is the source of our heavenly guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” The first point in seeking godly guidance is trusting God. You cannot trust someone if you do not know who that person is. So if we have to trust God we need to know God and what he can do in our lives. James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” The Bible says it is only God that never changes so we need to put our complete confidence/trust in him. Secondly we must not rely on our own understanding. Our human mind has limited comprehension and only God is all-knowing. Our understanding is often limited, we cannot see beyond our capacity. God sees our success even when we cannot see it ourselves. There is nothing that He doesn’t see. The next point in trusting God is to acknowledge Him in all our ways. As the Maker and Savior of all mankind, God has the right to plan our everyday life and events. Just as a child looks for his father’s help, as believers we are to include our heavenly Father in everything by acknowledging Him in ALL our ways. Personal success may tempt us to feel proud, but we must guard against this thinking because it can lead us in a harmful direction. See what the Bible says: Trust God, lean not on our understanding, and acknowledge God in all our ways. Then, God promises to make our paths straight or in other words he promises to lead us into a victorious life that he has planned for us. The route seems very easy to travel and requires less time but it is not as simple as you think or obstacle-free as the devil tries to deviate us from this straight path. Child of God let us strive to follow the three directional signs as the Father works on our behalf to overcome barriers along the way. Will you follow God’s spiritual compass and trust Him wholeheartedly today? As you reject self-reliance and acknowledge dependence upon Him, you will stay on the straight path of godliness and lead a victorious life in Christ. Amen! |
