Burst into Song

Isaiah 55:12-13 12You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. 13Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”

Who is the person who will burst into song in this context?

1. One who seeks the Lord.

Isaiah 55:6-7 Isaiah 55:6-7 6Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. 7Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

The one who burst into song is the wicked person who forsakes his thoughts and the way the thoughts take him and decide to seek the Lord and ask God for pardon.

2. One who is thirsty for the Lord.

Isaiah 55:1 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

The ones who burst into song is the one who come to the water because they are thirsty. And even though they have no money, they can buy milk and wine without money and without price because it is absolutely free with God. God’s salvation is portrayed in these two symbols; wine is used in special feasts and shows joy of salvation and milk portrays sustenance.

Jesus said in John 7:37-38 37On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

Therefore, the one who burst into song is a person who feels need in his soul, hears the voice of God offering the living waters, seeks the Lord while he may be found, calls upon him while he is near, drinks from the fountain of life, receives mercy and pardon for all sins, and trusts in the triumphant promises of God described.

Those who trust in the Lord will surely burst into song, God’s word will accomplish it. Isaiah 55:10-11 10As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

When will we burst into song?

Isaiah 55:13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.

Burst into song will happen when Adam’s curse is lifted from this world. When Adam sinned in Genesis 3, a curse came on the whole creation. Part of that curse was that the ground will be cursed, man’s labor would be made hard, the ground will produce and thorns and thistles.

That curse will be removed and see what happens to the nature: Isaiah 55:12b ..the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

God is promising a major change in things and we as well as the nature will burst forth into song. We need to wait for that day. The Lord is going to come soon and make it a reality.

However, those who are in the Lord can also burst into song individually. Psalm 4:7, Job 8:21

How will we be when that happens?

You Will Be Happy. V 12a You will go out in joy..

You Will Have Peace. V12b and be led forth in peace.

The saints bursting into song will be to God an everlasting sign or memorial. Isaiah 55:13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.” Your happiness and peace is God’s reputation, God’s memorial.

Does your life bear the mark of this hope? The hope of that joy can fill our hearts with everlasting joy even in hardships and difficulties of life. Today, let us be glad in the Lord. Let’s all come every moment and every day to the living water. Amen.

Have a blessed Month.
